PIER ONE SYDNEY

Celebrating Australian culture and local design

Pier One Hotel Sydney by Tonkin Zulaikha Greer

Tonkin Zulaikha Greer have masterfully made over the iconic Pier One hotel on Sydney Harbour, incorporating the wharf’s maritime history into an elegant contemporary design, using elements like aged brass to echo classical ship architecture.

Australian design is everywhere, from furniture pieces to ornamentation in deep blue hues, soft linens and wooden accents all sourced locally.

A mini bar was designed for each room where guests are treated to Archie Rose spirits, with power and lighting through integrated ZETR outlets and switches in the design of the bar.

Greer’s favourite detail of the new Pier One are the bedside tables in the twin rooms. “They’re shaped from sheets of aged brass and able to slide along rails,” he says. “They are elegant, durable, flexible elements made of minimal material, which for me is the best approach to sustainability.” Perfect for perching a champagne glass on as you watch the famous firework waterfall from the bridge on New Year’s Eve.

Sitting above the bedside tables sits ZETR double outlet with dual USB and Single gang switch integrated flush into the headboards of every room.
