DESIGN DIALOGUE
FUTURE
OF WORK
With so many important changes happening in the workplace - design is reflecting the desire for more fluid relationship between work, home and public spaces.
What does this mean for ZETR? We had an open discussion with our design and leadership team to find out.

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE OF WORKPLACE MEAN TO YOU?
In the past two years, Australian design quickly shifted to new styles of work spaces, evolving to suit their clients teams, families and the community. I don’t think we can discount the effect this has had on the industry as a whole.
It has brought a lot of creative thinking back into products and the spaces they inhabit.
Products in particular have a pivotal role to play in the overall success of the designed workspace. We want to allow connectivity & productivity for all workspace environments, which we think comes from flexible products.
We keep coming back to the thought that the less that people have to think about where and how to charge or connect, the better.
WHEN CONCEPTING AND DESIGNING, DO YOU HAVE A GOAL?
When we design, we ultimately aim to provide solutions for architectural spaces. The requirements of the workplace have completely changed - so we have had to think differently and reimagine the products to suit.
We want to eliminate clutter, excess and bulk where possible. Moving to simplified power and data solutions in one, such as USB-C, is a goal for commercial, work, education and public spaces. But we have to acknowledge that traditional 240V power is a mainstay of our home life, and ultimately residential spaces.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR ZETR?
We imagine a more flexible connection between work life, home life as we well as travel and leisure. We’re interested in pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in power and connectivity for these new multi-functional spaces.
Through the process of E-WASTELAND, our recent experiential exhibit for Saturday Indesign, we learned so much about the global e-waste problem. Product design has the ability to change perceptions and reeducate, which is pretty cool. It is very important to us to create, design and manufacture responsibly all in the name of a brighter future.
